Pipelines
Score: 5/10Streaming ingestion into R2 — early, but pointed in the right direction.
Last updated
Pipelines ingests event streams over HTTP or from Workers and lands them in R2 as queryable tables — pair it with R2 Data Catalog (Iceberg) and R2 SQL and you can squint and see a full analytics stack with no Kafka, no ETL cluster, and no egress fees on the stored result.
That destination is genuinely exciting: the “events to warehouse” pipeline is expensive, operationally heavy plumbing at every company, and collapsing it into managed config on storage you already use is the right dream.
Today it’s early. Schema evolution is rough, transform capabilities are limited, throughput guarantees and back-pressure behavior need more production miles, and the query story (R2 SQL) is itself young. I’m scoring the current product a 5 with an upward trajectory — this is one to re-evaluate every quarter.
