Zaraz’s promise — run your third-party scripts (analytics, pixels, tags) server-side at the edge so they stop wrecking your page performance — is one of the best ideas Cloudflare has acquired. When it works, moving a tag manager’s worth of JavaScript off the main thread is a visible, measurable win.
In practice the integration catalog is thin, anything not in the catalog means writing a custom managed component, and debugging why an event didn’t fire is an exercise in opacity. Config versioning and the migration bumps over the years haven’t helped confidence.
I want to love it, and I keep re-evaluating it, but momentum seems to have moved to other parts of the company. Use it for the simple cases (a couple of well-supported analytics tools); keep expectations low beyond that.
